For the first time, we partner directly with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), with strong support from the Chinese government. This collaboration sets Tech Week Shanghai apart, ensuring a highly relevant and immersive experience for partners and attendees in China and beyond.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The incumbent is responsible for driving sales performance and executing commercial strategies to grow revenue from the Chinese market. This will primarily be achieved through the sale of exhibition space and sponsorship opportunities within our technology events portfolio.
Reporting to the China Market Lead, the role will design and implement effective sales plans that ensure sustainable financial success. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining strong client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring client success and retention at our events.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with strong commercial acumen, excellent relationship-building skills, fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese, and a solid understanding of the events industry.
Main Responsibilities
Sales Performance
- Manage daily sales activities and consistently meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Develop and implement sales strategies in partnership with the China Market Lead.
- Drive exhibitor and sponsorship sales, ensuring overall portfolio yield and profitability.
- Proactively generate new business opportunities and revenue streams, including creative sponsorship and partnership models.
- Monitor and optimise sales performance – taking individual responsibility for sustaining a healthy opportunity pipeline through managing sales activity and conversion rates.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipelines using CRM systems.
Brand & Market Development
- Execute brand strategies to strengthen market positioning and relevance in China.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, prospects, associations, media, and commercial partners.
- Represent the brand by travelling to meet customers, prospects, and event partners.
Financial & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of exhibition and sponsorship sales.
- Deliver weekly/monthly performance reports, including progress against targets and key actions taken.
Customer Success & Operations
- Partner with Customer Success and Operations teams to deliver a seamless client experience, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
Marketing Collaboration
- Work with Marketing to deliver client commitments and campaigns.
- Support strategies to acquire new exhibitors and upsell/reactivate existing accounts.
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales, ideally within the events or media industry.
- Proven track record of achieving and surpassing sales targets.
- Strong knowledge of Chinese market dynamics and business culture.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin; other languages a plus.
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
- Confident working independently while contributing to a passionate team.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally (especially to China).
- Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in IT systems, ideally Salesforce CRM.
