Maureen Nyamey
Senior Marketing Manager – Marketing What’s it like working in the UK as a French-speaking professional?
It has been both enriching and empowering. London, in particular, is incredibly diverse and international. Being bilingual is seen as an asset rather than an exception. In my role, I’ve been able to leverage my native French not only to lead an event like Tech Show Paris but also to connect more deeply with our French-speaking audience and partners. There’s a real openness here to different perspectives, and I’ve always felt that my voice was valued, regardless of my accent or background.
2. What advice would you give to other women considering a role here?
Don’t hesitate. Bring your full self, your culture, your language, your ambition. The UK work environment can be fast-paced, but it also offers great flexibility and space for growth. I would also say: build your network early and don’t be afraid to speak up. As women, and especially as women from diverse backgrounds, we often wait for permission, but here, you’re encouraged to take initiative. Trust your instincts and go for the seat at the table.
3. What do you enjoy most about your role and the company culture?
What I love most about my role is the balance between creativity and strategy. I get to shape the marketing vision for a major French tech event, work across borders, and collaborate with an inspiring team. The company culture is ambitious yet supportive, even during high-pressure periods, there’s a strong sense of camaraderie, especially within the French team. I also really value the autonomy I’ve been given. It’s a place where you can own your projects, test new ideas, and genuinely make an impact.
